The Natural Learning Centre, Margaret River aims to promote a love of the natural environment and support lifelong learning.

We are committed to help broaden understanding and develop community resources for adults and children to assist exploration of natural learning. Our vision includes mentoring parents, educators and other interested parties in supporting children. We seek exceptional professional development opportunities for NLC staff and investigate community partnerships to enhance the NLC and wider community.

The Natural Learning Centre

Is a not-for-profit organisation that has evolved from Fishica Discovery through Play, owned and operated by Rae Pethica.

Founded in 2018 by Amanda (Mandi) Winnett and Rae Pethica, NLC offers a community resource for families and interested parties looking for authentic nature-based and play-based learning programs for children aged 18 months to 12 years. Located in historic Rosa Brook, only 10 minutes from Margaret River, we have access to multiple facilities to support our programs, including direct forest access. NLC operates within the local Wadandi seasons during school terms in all weather (unless a severe weather warning has been issued by the Bureau of Meteorology).

As younger and younger children are expected to sit at desks in contemporary classrooms, NLC honours each child’s development by providing outdoor, interest-driven, play-based opportunities for learning across all domains (social, emotional, cognitive, physical) in multi-aged groupings.

We would love you to join us as we grow our community resource into a library and meeting space, a recycling and sustainability centre, and in seeking partnerships with like-minded local community groups.

Please feel free to contact us to arrange a time to visit our site and discuss the possibilities for you and your child/ren.
